Happy birthday Isaac and Dr. Seuss!

Today Isaac's school celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday, which is fitting with the birthday theme we are celebrating this week. Isaac turned... 6 on Wednesday!! He's such a big boy! In fact, he's so big that he informed me that he was ready for 1st grade now. I don't doubt his abilities, but I told him that he's just going to have to wait.

Well, today we can home to find a surprise waiting for Isaac from Grammy and Papa Delk- an Alabama shirt!!! How cool!!

So we got pictures of his shirt along with the Cat in the Hat hat that he made in school.

Not to be left out, Abby and Andy had to get their pictures made as well.

Thank you, Grammy and Papa Delk! Isaac is going to be celebrating his birthday for a while!

Happy Birthday, Pa Joe!

It's just not a party without the Delks! The sad thing is we didn't actually get to stay for the party, but we did get to see everyone and play.
Since I had a half day yesterday and I get Monday off, we Delks decided to take a trip up to M'boro to see our favorite Pa Joe and wish him a happy birthday.

Abby found an old frog umbrella of Aunt Boo's.

The boys all found forms of entertainment.

We stayed the night in the 'boro and this morning we split. Abby and I visited Gommy Petty with Grammy Pat, while the boys went with Aunt Boo to see Josh-e-wash and Julia. We all found ourselves at Aunt Jenny's house for lunch and nap time.
The Bradley Girls (Jenny, Me, Joanna) played beauty shop and did our nails and gossiped. Jason hid in the basement and Pa Joe went for a walk. (They were more than welcome upstairs, I don't know why they chose not to socialize.)
 ;)

After nap time it was let's-see-how-loud-we-can-play time. I hate to brag, but I'm pretty sure my kids won.

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PA JOE! I'm glad we got to celebrate with you! Thank you Grammy and Papa for having us over, and thank you Aunt Jenny and Uncle Jason for letting us come over to play!

Christmas 2012

Everyone wide awake, Abby is fever free, and the gifts are all opened! Let's see what Santa brought the kiddos.

Santa managed to find a hippopotamus for Christmas! Just like in the song that Mrs. Monica at daycare taught Isaac to sing. :)

 Alabama t-shirts

A Dora mermaid outfit- since Abby told Santa she wanted a mermaid tail

Underwear!! It was a huge hit!

 Trains!

Cars! They go along with his Hot Wheels jumper track. (no picture, sorry)

 More trains!

And even more trains! Andy got 2 different train sets.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates spyglass, map and headband! I have to explain that this gift was originally brought for Andy. However, upon opening, Andy decided it wasn't his because it was not a train. Isaac was more than willing to take it for himself.

 A little diva dress!

 It fits!

With accessories from Grammy and Papa Delk!
Abby also received a Princess camping set with a tent, sleeping bag, backpack, and flashlight. (It's on her back) Abby decided that, out of everything, the flashlight was the best gift. I'll remember this for next year.

Last but not least, here are pics from a few weeks ago. Joe bought mini trees for the kids' rooms.

Here are pics of our Christmas tree, also from a few weeks ago.

And a little video of Abby sharing the story of Jesus' birth, using the stick puppets she made in Sunday School.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Delk Christmas 2012

Yesterday we celebrated Joe's family's Christmas in Cookeville. Uncle JD, Aunt Beth and Grammy Delk did all the cooking and it was fabulous!

Little Diva. While the boys went on a manly shopping trip after lunch, we ladies got to watch The Little Mermaid. Best idea ever! (Aunt Beth)

 Uncle Craig and Andy

 Uncle Craig and Abby

 Papa Delk and Isaac

Daddy and Isaac (Uncle JD and Andy in the background)

Aunt Beth being fabulous

The kids, of course, made out like bandits. Abby received all things Princess- dolls, jewelry, clothes, activities. Andy and Isaac received cars (66 Hot Wheels between the 2 of them) Angry Birds outfits, Andy received trains, and Isaac received things that require batteries. (I don't see the batteries lasting long.)

Mommy and Daddy received just what we asked for- gift cards and cash!! Merry Christmas to us!! :)

Santa also answered our wishes while driving home- naps for everyone in the backseat.

Stay posted for all thing Christmas! We still have 3 more to go!

The beauty of the Nutcracker...

The convenience of my living room!

The channel Ovation has been running different versions of the Nutcracker. I love watching different versions! Some are crazy, while some are more traditional. I watch it and think, "Dang, I wish I had talent."

Abby and Andy watched it with me and they thought, "What a fun dance party!"

Here are some videos I took of Abby being a ballerina, and Andy being her break-dancing prince.

And to make this post super-cute, I'm including the twins' fall pictures. :)

Breakfast with Santa 2012

This is the first year we have participated in Breakfast with Santa and it was a success! These are the pictures I took. We will get the "professional" copies soon.  Mr. Petty, the photographer, got a cute one of Abby giving Santa a kiss on the cheek. :)

The kids had a great time! We sat with Kitty and Apple John, Matt and Ben. I can see us doing this again next year!

Halloween 2012

Once again, the Delks made our trek to our neighbors' house for some Halloween fun! Thank you, Kayla and Travis (and Ansley) for allowing everyone to invade!

Melissa came with the twins and Kayla had one of her friends with her son over as well. I didn't get pictures while we were there, but I did get some before we went over.

Their buckets were from the Ketner's Mill craft fair we visited a few weekends ago. The kids agreed that once the buckets were full, they would stop trick-or-treating!

Andy is Thomas the Train. Aunt Jenny got us this costume at the end of the season last year for 90% off! He loved it!

Isaac just had to be a ninja. Not sure where he got the idea, but I'm glad we found a costume!

I have to explain about Abby's costume. Originally she was going to wear the Princess dress that she wore to Julia's birthday party. However, when we went to put it on just an hour before we had to leave, we found a GIANT HOLE in the front of the dress. This might be because Abby has taken to napping in the dress. So, we made a mad dash around her room and found this ballerina leotard (that we inherited from a friend of mine) and tights (from Grammy Pat) and now she is a pretty ballerina princess! (thank you, Aunt Jenny for the crown!)

Joe took the kids trick-or-treating while I held down the fort and passed out candy. If you want any kid stories, I'm sure Joe would be happy to tell some tales at Thanksgiving!
